Thank you to everyone who joined the collective for our free public talk at the HIVE on Apirl 18th from 1-3pm. We loved presenting our art and science collaboration, and teaching you about  the deep-sea coral and sponge gardens found off the coast of Alaska. We hope you enjoyed your journey into the depths, through the waving pink branches of the bubblegum coral, past the ruffled white sponges that look like floating lace on skinny stalks, and guiding your first foray into a magical deep-sea world filled with wonder and beauty.

Spokane Public Schools Field Trips

In April of 2026 the collective hosted 13 field trips for Spokane Public Schools in collaboration with the Chase Gallery, Mobius Discovery Center, and with support from ArtSalvage and our Spokane Arts Grant Award (SAGA). 

All 13 of our trips included a gallery tour, art talk, and guided scavenger hunt with one or more of the artists. Every field trip also received science and art coloring pages created by the collective, and a STEAM kit developed by Art Salvage. 

This kit was developed  in conjunction with the Unseen Ocean Collective with funding from SAGA, each kit was then taken back to the classroom to create their own coral and sponge garden with. 

11 of the field trips also received a talk from Lara on deep-sea corals and sponges at the Mobius Discovery Center, and playtime on the Discovery center floor.
